2024 Band Camp 411

Updated: Jul 29

It's that time again, BAND CAMP! The NHHS 2024 Band Camp starts this Monday, and we can't wait to see everyone! Band Camp will meet the weekdays between July 29 - Aug 2. and Aug 7 - 9 from 2:30pm – 9:00pm. We need students to be picked up no later than 9:!5 pm as campus will immediately close after camp. Please plan accordingly. All student are required to complete the online application if they haven't done so already. Please plan on using the East Chandler Gate entrance near Colfax (See map below). Additionally, our Drumline & Pit Percussion will meet on Aug 5 & 6 from 12 noon - 4pm.

We invite all our family and friends to our Camp Culmination in the C building quad on Friday, Aug 9, at 7pm. We'll have drinks and desserts followed by a performance from the band premiering new pep songs and a bit of the new field show!

On Monday, Day 1 of camp, a pizza dinner will be provided, so students don't need to bring food. However, please make a dinner plan on all other days by bringing food or money to purchase something. Local Takeout is within walking distance, but students only have 45 minutes for dinner. We ask all 9th graders to attend Freshman Orientation on Saturday instead of Thursday, so you don't have to miss camp.

What to bring & what to wear?

Band Students: Be prepared by bringing comfortable shoes for marching (NO SANDALS!), weather-appropriate clothes, water bottle, instrument, music and sunscreen! Don't forget to print music to all pep songs, Daves songs, Monster Jams and Jock Rock tunes. Here's a link to download music.  Color Guard Students: Please come wearing athletic clothing, workout/dance shoes, sunscreen, a hat, & a water bottle. This year, we want students to bring water bottles to school every day! We hope to have a filtered water dispenser in the music room and use the water refill stations built in and around the new campus buildings. Don't worry too much about the heat! Students will be indoors most of the day, working in music rooms or the gym and marching outside in the evening after our dinner break. We can't wait to see our students bond with each other, making friendships that will last a lifetime.

CALLING ALL PARENTS!

We are building a team of parent leaders as we continue to grow and strengthen our program! So far, two Color Guard parents have stepped up, but so far, no band parents! Please consider becoming a Band Parent Coordinator to help strengthen our program! This is a team effort, and we would love to see a team of parents working together. Please attend our Band Camp Culmination to learn how you can help! Parent Coordinator Positions:

  • Volunteer Coordinator / Lead Parent: Rally parents together and help coordinate parent helpers. Recruit Tier II volunteers to chaperone events. Communicate with Mr. Sharp any concerns or questions about the program.

  • Team Meal Coordinator: Create a Sign-Up Genius for team meals and recruit parents to help with meals and water donations.

  • Transportation Coordinator: Create a sign-up Genius for the truck and recruit two parents to help supervise the loading and unloading of heavy equipment
